How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

Google doesn't publish a rate. These are ranges estimated by industry agencies, not official figures (September 2026).

01

Long videos

$1.00 – $30.00 per 1,000 views depending on the niche: $1,000 – $30,000 for a million views.
02

Shorts

$0.01 – $0.10 per 1,000 views: $10 – $100 for a million. Far below long videos.
03

Why such a wide range

The niche and your audience's country weigh the most: audiences in Spain and Latin America generate several times less than in the US, the UK or Germany.

How much does YouTube Shorts pay?

Shorts are paid from a shared pool, not ad by ad.

01

Per 1,000 views

$0.01 – $0.10 according to agency estimates, so $10 – $100 per million views. It takes a lot of volume to add up.
02

How the pool is split

Shorts ad revenue goes into a shared pool. YouTube splits it by each channel's share of eligible views and gives the creator 45% of their part.
03

What you need

Tier 2 of the Partner Program (1,000 subscribers plus 10 million Shorts views in 90 days or 4,000 watch hours) and accepting the Shorts monetization module.

RPM vs CPM: which one is your money?

They're often confused, and the difference changes your estimate.

01

CPM

What advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube takes its share. It only counts views that showed ads.
02

RPM

What you actually earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and counting every view, with or without ads. It's what this calculator estimates.

What changes in February 2027.

YouTube has already announced it: the ad tier gets harder from February 1, 2027.

01

Tier 2 doubles its bar

Ads will require 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 watch hours in 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days (today: 4,000 hours or 10 million).
02

Tier 1 stays the same

500 subscribers still unlock memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks.
03

A monthly bar for the Shorts pool

To get paid from the Shorts pool each month, you'll need to keep 10 million Shorts views over the last 90 days.
04

Accept the new terms by January 31, 2027

Otherwise, you lose monetization features from February 1, 2027.
